We Go Where They Go:  The Story of Anti-Racist Action
By Shannon Clay, Lady, Kristin Schwartz and Michael Staudenmaier

Largely based on interviews with ex-participants, this book is a wild ride from the 1980s through the early 2000s of militant anti-Fascist organizing in the United States and Canada. The book doesn’t just cover the massive public confrontations that seem to characterize the Trump era. Sure, its narrative spans counter cultural neighborhood and concert venue brawls and beatdowns, but it also delves into canvassing, intelligence gathering, and conferences. Interspersed are articles for clarification of thought and action, and so much more!

We Go Where They Go is part of a very important and growing body of work connecting the decline of the New Left in the 1970s, to the re-immergence of regular mass street demonstrations in the US and Canada in 1999 against corporate globalization and 2003 with the second Iraq war. Rich with hind sight, it’s not just about punching Nazis in the face, though there is plenty of that too!  -A. Iwasa (PM Press, PO Box 23912, Oakland, CA 94623)
