We are living through an ongoing pandemic. One that we will continue to feel the effects from for years to come. The first year of the COVID-19 pandemic was especially traumatic for so many of us. It was also a time of incredible activism. At the time, I was serving as executive director of Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center. We were on the front-lines of this activism— from training contact tracers to demanding vaccine equity for people living with HIV and so much more. Much of this activism in Pennsylvania and across the country, is detailed in my forthcoming book Crisis and Care: Queer Activist Responses to a Global Pandemic (PM Press), which will be released on August 16th.
