Radio Kingston— Freedom Highway
By Nick Panken
Leon Rosselson has spent a lifetime chronicling the times in song and envisioning the birth of a world after capitalism. He joins from his home in England to walk us through his life, from growing up in a left wing Jewish household during World War II, to writing songs imagining the relationship between Jewish children persecuted by Nazis and children in Gaza persecuted by the Israeli government. This lifetime of songwriting has been summarized in the recent compilation album Chronicling The Times, as well as his recent memoir Where Are The Elephants? which serves as the framework for our conversation.
